On a tax refund check, what do the letters AND OVR stand for? Would that stand for amended overpayment?

The tax refunds that tax payers are receiving that are seperate from the 2007 returns filed, are not being mailed out until May. Could this check received be this refund?
I received a tax return check recently and I did not sign any papers yet, so this can’t be for 2007 returns and the rebate checks are not being mailed until May, so what can this check possibly be for, if I went for my taxes and did not get the papers back yet to sign?

You’re talking about the economic stimulus checks (rebate). Those will be issued in May. You’ll get two letters from the IRS. One will tell you what you can expect as far as the amount goes. The second will tell you when to expect it. If you get the amount you are eligible for, it won’t affect your 2008 tax return. If you get less than the eligible amount, you can take a credit for the rest of the amount.

AND OVR stands for Andover , Ma ( The Department of Treasury) .
    I would think…..but that’s just my opinion

I think you are saying that you went someplace to get your 2007 tax return prepared? If so, they might have e-filed your return. Check with them to find out. If that is not the case, ask them to look at the situation to see if they can figure it out. If that does not work, send a letter to the IRS asking about it.
