This check was suppose to be a direct deposit, but the account has been closed since the deposit of our regular tax refund of 07. Does anyone know where I might go or call to find out if it has not been returned to the IRS?

Call the IRS at 1-800-829-0582, extension 726. They’re open Saturday from 10-3. They’ll be able to tell you if the check has been issued. I assume this is a joint return, if so, the check will be made out to both of you.

If the account was closed before the rebate was issued, then direct deposit to the account would have been rejected. A paper check will be mailed to the address listed on the tax return.
