You all know what I’m talking about. But I haven’t heard anything about it since the beginning of February. Is it still up in the air or has it been shot down? Also, does anyone know the exceptions to the refund (tax brackets and so on).

Okay, you’ve been asleep for a month.
Go to irs.gov, read pages and pages and pages on this. They even have practice scenarios.

You should of gotten an “Economic Stimulus Payment Notice” in the mail from the IRS. It should of arrived at your house one or two weeks ago.
In the notice, it explains the payment you’ll receive and the approximate time you’ll receive it. The first to receive payments will get them in early May.

Go to,,id=177937,00.html for info. It’s been all over the news – not sure how you missed it!

If you are eligible to receive a rebate, it will come to you automatically if you file your 2007 Federal Income Tax return.
The tax rebate is based on your 2007 earnings and Federal Income Tax liability.
You would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get back $350. If you had earned income or social security of at least $3000, you would get at least the minimum rebate of $300. Similarly, couples filing jointly can receive up to $1200. If you qualify for a rebate, you will receive $300 for each dependent child under 17.
Use the Kiplinger rebate tax calculator (link below) to compute your rebate.
