IRS Stimulus Letter never came in?

Sandy I asked:

I didn’t get a stimulus letter from the government. But I have filed taxes for 2007 (which is my first year first year filing taxes). I’ve looked on the IRS website and it says that I should have my stimulus money by May 9th. How will I know if I am eligible when I didn’t get any letter at all in the mail? Other than that, I think I probably am eligible from he basic information.

We got our rebate last Thursday, and hadn’t received that letter yet. We did finally get the letter a couple days ago.

You can use the Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator on the irs. gov website to see how much you should be getting.
Have your 1040 from 2007 handy, because you’ll need to refer to it.

The first letter was based on whether you filed in 2006. It was hit or miss and frankly a major waste of money.

It’s the 2007 and 2008 tax returns that count.

If you were not a dependent and made at least $3000 in income, you appear to be eligible for the rebate.
