My mom claimed me as a dependent not thinking this would matter i filed a tax return for which i was entitled 309$ not knowing my mom filed me as a dependent i just put that i was not filed as a dependent when i e filed. I efile, and 2 days later the irs says i was rejected because someone else filed me. So then i correct the form and say that i was filed as a dependent and it says on the top i am only entitled to 9$ is this right? because that seems too low.

Last friday I filed my federal income tax online on efile…..and it told me I had to wait till it got approved or something like that…well its been a week and I still haven’t heard from them….I went back today to do my state, but it wouldn’t let me file my state till I heard back from the IRS about my federal…..is this unusual should I have heard from them already?
I am still waiting for answers

Let me clarify. I have not filed taxes since 2003. Since then, I have been sent w-2′s but have misplaced them. Now I need to file for years 2003, 2004, 2005, but HAVE NO W-2′S. Where can I get this information without going to each and every employer??

Does the IRS already know how much money I made blah blah year because employer reported it already and if so, how can I find this information out??

I know that the IRS prohibits using the ACTUAL EXPENSES METHOD during the first year of vehicle usage (i.e. 2005) and then using the STANDARD MILEAGE deduction for the succeeding years (2006)…But I tried to circumvent this rule by the ff:

I want to shift to the STANDARD MILEAGE method this year and subsequent years. Therefore, I filed an amended tax return (1040x) for 2005 and changed my vehicle deduction from Actual to Standard Mileage. Then I included a payment with the return to make up for the resulting tax deficiency.

I then filed my current return for 2006 using the Standard Mileage method which is easier and allows me a larger deductible this year. Is this allowed?

Can the IRS find out about extra income if you put it in the bank?

A person I know does side work and earns about $15,000 a year in extra income. He refuses to put it in the bank because he is worried somehow the IRS will find out about it and he will be in trouble.

He keeps the money in a safe in his house.

Can’t he just put it in the bank? Will the IRS really go after him for an extra $1000 deposit every month?
